Solar lanterns will return to our range in early April 2025.

LUMIZ Lampion solar lanterns decorate your garden and terrace. You can leave the rainproof lanterns outside all summer without worry. The lantern light turns on automatically at dusk and turns off at dawn.

Create a personal atmosphere in your own garden by combining different colors, sizes and shapes. The lanterns have a wonderful lace-like surface, through which light filters through the slits in the dark, bringing out the patterns.

The lantern is made of Tyvek, which is also used to make protective overalls. The material is flexible and very durable. The lantern folds flat for winter storage.

The solar lantern needs daylight to charge the battery optimally. The lantern also requires batteries and comes with rechargeable AAA batteries.

Frequently asked questions about solar lanterns

How much sun does a lantern need to charge?

The solar lantern will light for 6-8 hours when charged in direct sunlight for 6-8 hours a day. The light output may decrease after 5-6 hours of use.

Can I keep the lantern outside in the rain?

Yes, you can! Lumiz solar lanterns are resistant to rain and shine. The lanterns are made of Tyvek, which is a very strong, weatherproof and dirt-repellent material.

Can the lantern be kept outside in winter?

The lantern cannot withstand frost, so take the lantern somewhere warm when the night frosts begin.

Can the lantern be placed on a terrace under a canopy?

If the solar lantern does not receive direct sunlight under the canopy, we recommend finding a place for it elsewhere for a few hours a day to charge the battery. When evening comes, the lantern can then be moved under the terrace canopy.

You can also buy a battery-operated module for the lantern that does not require sunlight. You can use the remote control to turn the light on and off and set a timer.

Does a solar cell charge a battery through glass?

Yes, the solar cell charges the battery through the glass.

Why doesn't the light come on in the lantern?

Solar lanterns turn on automatically at dusk and turn off at dawn.

If the light does not come on in the dark, use the checklist below to determine the fault.

  • The transparent or black plastic strip has been removed from the battery case. The battery case is on the opposite side of the solar cell, next to the LED light.
  • The battery compartment has been opened and checked to ensure that no plastic strip has been left inside the battery compartment.
  • The lantern is placed so that it receives direct sunlight for at least 2 hours a day. Please note that in the fall the sun shines very low and special attention should be paid to the placement of the lantern.
Maintenance and cleaning instructions

The battery's efficiency slowly decreases with charging and discharging. Replace the AAA battery at the latest when you notice the lantern's light output fading. The battery should be rechargeable. By replacing the battery every 12-24 months, you can continue to enjoy LUMIZ to the fullest!

Clean the solar panel with a soft damp cloth as needed to ensure that solar energy charges the battery at maximum efficiency.

Tyvek material can be wiped with a soft damp cloth if necessary.

When storing the lantern for the winter, we recommend removing the battery from the solar module. If the battery were to leak during storage, it would damage the electronic components.
