Wool carpets naturally repel dirt, making it easier to keep clean. Ventilate and vacuum the carpet regularly.
Small stains should be cleaned with Marseille soap, which is a very fatty soap. The stains are moistened with water and soap using a microfiber cloth, the stained area is lightly pressed and the stain is wiped inwards so that the stain does not spread to a wider area. Finally, wipe with a clean microfiber cloth moistened with water.
To ensure the longevity and good condition of a wool rug, it is best to wash it only when necessary. Washing it too frequently will dissolve the wool's own dirt-repellent fat from the wool fibers, which will dry out the rug and weaken its dirt-repellent properties. A dried-out rug will become brittle and collect more dust. Thanks to the oily wool fibers, a wool rug will stay very clean without regular maintenance washing.
Wash the wool rug in a flat water wash. Follow the washing instructions for the rug first. Use cool water, around 30 degrees, and avoid soaking for long periods. Use a mild detergent solution and wash with a soft sponge. Rinse thoroughly. Dry the rug flat in dry air.
In winter, we recommend snow cleaning for wool carpets.
