Assembly
Deliveries all over Finland

Product information
All our teak furniture is handcrafted in Indonesia, using recycled wood.
The recycled wood we use comes from old demolished Indonesian houses.
Our skilled carpenters create custom-made furniture. The furniture can also be tinted and you can choose a smoother or rougher surface.
The pricing of custom-made products is based on the consumption of wood raw materials, so ordering custom-made products is no more expensive than purchasing an off-the-shelf product.
We also create custom-made furniture based on the customer's own ideas and needs. Tell us your idea in text or with a picture. Our skilled Indonesian partner will model your idea into a 3D image, based on which the implementation will be made.

Important things to know about recycling ponds
The recycled wood we use comes from old Indonesian houses being demolished to make way for brick houses. As a building material, teak has been a truly beautiful and durable material for centuries, withstanding the scorching sun and high humidity and not being liked by pests.
Due to the origin of the wood and the craftsmanship, furniture made from recycled teak is unique.
Wood color, surface and dimensions
Due to fluctuations in humidity, wood aging is a characteristic of teak furniture, just like any solid wood furniture. This means that thin cracks may appear in the wood.
Furniture made from recycled teak is not smooth like furniture made from particleboard. Rusticity is an essential part of this furniture.
All untreated teak furniture has the same tone, but the surface color varies, due to the origin of the wood. Therefore, no piece of furniture is exactly the same, for example compared to the pictures on the online store's website.
Due to handmade nature, product dimensions may be up to 10mm larger or smaller than in the product description.
Yesterday's wall, tomorrow's furniture
Table tops and the tops of sideboards, TV stands and chests of drawers can also have a wooden slot, which we think makes these pieces of furniture fun and unique - by looking at the slot, you can guess whether the piece of furniture used a ceiling beam with a lead-through, or perhaps a floorboard with a hole made for a water pipe. The wooden slot is barely noticeable from a distance, but our skilled carpenters know how to make it so beautifully. And you can't feel the slot with your fingers at all.

Frequently asked questions
Why can cracks appear in solid wood?
Wood is a living natural material that reacts to the temperature and humidity of the environment. When conditions change – dry winter air indoors or sun outdoors – wood can live and sometimes develop small cracks. This is a natural part of the nature of wood.
The thicker the piece of wood, the more likely it is to develop hairline cracks. Wooden framed mirrors or wooden decorative panels almost never crack.
Is the crack a defect or a quality defect?
No. Cracks are not a sign of poor quality, but on the contrary, an indication of genuine, solid wood material.
Design by Sasu's furniture is made from recycled teak. The furniture does not contain chipboard or artificial structures that would prevent the natural life of the wood.
Vintage by Sasu's furniture and wooden objects were made from teak wood 50-100 years ago.
Is teak suitable for both indoor and outdoor use?
Yes. Teak is one of the most durable and highly valued woods in the world. Its natural oil content makes it an excellent material for both indoor and outdoor use. Indoors, teak retains its warm, vibrant appearance. Outdoors, it patinas to a beautiful silvery gray over time if the wood is not oiled.
Do cracks affect the durability of the furniture?
The cracks are thin and superficial and do not impair the structure or lifespan of the furniture. Properly constructed solid teak furniture is made to last for decades – even in varying conditions.
Can cracks be prevented?
The aging of solid wood cannot be completely prevented, but it can be controlled.
In use we recommend:
- avoid placing furniture in the immediate vicinity of a radiator or fireplace, or in a room with underfloor heating
- keep indoor humidity at 35-45%
- maintain wooden surfaces regularly
How to care for teak furniture indoors?
The most important maintenance measure for teak furniture indoors is to maintain a constant humidity level in the room, especially during the winter season. We recommend keeping the humidity at around 35–45% using a humidifier – the wood should not be sprayed. Any small cracks are normal; they are usually aesthetic and can be repaired with wood putty during maintenance if desired.
When it comes to surface treatment, the choice is between oil and wax: oil protects the wood effectively, but darkens and changes the tone of the teak, while wax (e.g. sauna wax) changes the color very little, provides light surface protection and allows the wood to live naturally. Therefore, wax is often the best option indoors when you want to preserve the original look of teak as much as possible.
How to care for teak furniture when used outdoors?
Teak is a naturally very weather-resistant wood, and its care for outdoor use is intentionally simple. The furniture can be left untreated, allowing the teak to grey beautifully and evenly over time – this is a completely natural and valued patina. If desired, a warmer tone can be maintained by oiling, but it is worth noting that oil darkens the wood and requires regular renewal. Outdoors, oil does not prevent cracks, but slows down rapid fluctuations in humidity. Small cracks are normal and do not affect durability; they can be repaired with wood putty during maintenance if desired.
The most important thing is good placement: avoid constant standing water, ensure air circulation and let the furniture dry after rain. With proper care – or even without surface treatment – solid teak can last outdoors for decades and develop a valuable patina.
Does teak furniture need to be protected from the winter?
Teak is an exceptionally durable wood. Its natural oils protect the wood from moisture, frost and temperature fluctuations. Structurally, teak furniture can also withstand winter outdoors, and frost itself does not damage it. Why is protection still a good idea? In winter, the biggest stress is not the cold, but constant moisture and freezing, standing water in the joints and snow, which prevents the wood from drying out.
Winter protection reduces the risk of cracks and surface wear, slows down patination and makes spring maintenance significantly easier.
The best way to store your furniture for the winter is to move it to a covered, airy space (shed, storage room, cold garage). If the furniture is left outside, use a breathable tarpaulin (not plastic) and make sure that no water stands on the surfaces. We also recommend raising the furniture slightly off the ground.
Waxing or oiling teak
Teak is a very hard, dense and oily wood that does not absorb anything easily.
There is no need to do anything to untreated teak surfaces. Check out our instructions for indoor and outdoor use in the Frequently Asked Questions section.
We always recommend waxing or oiling surfaces used for cooking or eating.
If you decide to wax or oil your furniture, always treat it on a clean and dry surface. Please note that the treatment will darken the color of the wood. Test the treatment on an inconspicuous surface first.
Waxing
Wood wax provides additional protection to the surface, preventing the wood surface from staining.
Sauna wax and, for example, Osmocolor clear wood wax provide good protection. Sauna wax darkens the wood less than other wood waxes. Only a very thin layer of wax is needed on the wood surface. The treatment should be done with a good quality brush and a cotton cloth. Do not use a foam brush.
Apply a very thin layer of wax with a brush and wipe off any excess wax with a rag. If you apply too much wax and the surface becomes too dark, let the wax dry completely and then sand the wax off.
Treat the wood from all sides. The treatment will moisten the wood and if you only treat the surface, the wood may start to warp and crack more easily.
You can also tint teak if you want to change its color. However, test the colored wax on an inconspicuous area first to see what the final color will be. Apply the wax in very thin layers. It is easier to add layers if you want to strengthen the color than to sand it off.
Waxing should be done at least twice a year. You will notice when the surface needs re-waxing. The need for re-waxing depends on the intended use and whether the furniture is indoors or outdoors.
Oiling
If teak is not treated and the furniture is kept outdoors, over time it will turn a beautiful grey. If you want to restore the natural colour of the teak, first sand the surface lightly with sandpaper and then oil the surface.
Teak oil is a good treatment, especially if you keep your furniture outdoors. However, the oil will darken the teak color considerably.
China wood oil also works great for outdoor furniture, but it also darkens somewhat.
Treat the wood from all sides. The treatment will moisten the wood and if you only treat the surface, the wood may start to warp and crack more easily.
Oiling is necessary every 1-2 years. You will notice when the surface needs re-oiling. The need for re-oiling depends on the intended use and whether the furniture is indoors or outdoors.
Staining or painting teak
Before surface treatment, make sure that the surface is clean and dry.
Staining
Teak can be stained with a stain intended for hardwood. Stains can change the color. Our black-finished furniture has been treated with a solvent-based stain. The stained surface must be protected with a varnish intended for hardwood.
You can order our furniture pre-stained. Discover the color options
Painting
Furniture that has been previously oiled or waxed cannot be painted or varnished later. If the furniture is to be used outdoors, painting is not recommended as the paint surface will crack.
As teak is an oily wood, priming must be done carefully. Consult the paint manufacturer for painting instructions.
We do not recommend painting teak with light shades because the oil will build up on the paint surface over time and make it look dirty.
Stock and order products
We import furniture to Finland about every 3 months.
We try to anticipate furniture demand and order products into stock. However, we cannot stock all models or sizes.
If the product you want is not in stock and there is no mention of an estimated arrival time on the product page, please contact us so that we can order the product for the next shipment.
On the product page you can see if the product is immediately available. If the product is on order, you will see the estimated delivery time. There are only 1-2 pieces of ordered products in each shipment, so we recommend pre-ordering. Pre-orders are not binding if you change your mind.
