Characteristics and handling instructions for recycled teak

Waxing or oiling untreated teak

We deliver the furniture either untreated or painted black.

Recycled teak is a very hard, dense and oily wood that does not absorb anything easily on its own. However, we recommend waxing surfaces that are prone to drink or food stains.

Colorless wax (e.g. Osmocolor clear wax) is a good protection and only a very thin layer is needed on the surface of the product. We recommend applying the treatment with a good quality brush and a cotton cloth. It is worth wiping off excess wax with the cloth while working with the brush. If for some reason you apply too much wax, you can sand it off when the wax has dried properly.

You can also tint teak if you want to change its color. However, try the colored wax first in an inconspicuous place like the underside of a table or behind a cabinet to see what the final color will be. The same applies here as with colorless wax, i.e. apply a very thin layer. It is always easier to add layers if you want to strengthen the color than to sand it off.

Teak oil is a great treatment, especially if you keep your furniture outdoors. However, it is worth noting that the oil darkens the color of the teak considerably. China wood oil also works great for outdoor furniture, but it also darkens it somewhat.

Remember to always treat a clean and dry surface!

You don't need to oil or wax constantly. You will notice when the surface needs new waxing or oiling. The need for re-treatment depends a lot on where you keep your furniture and what it is for. When kept outdoors, teak will turn a beautiful grey, but that doesn't mean it is going to ruin. If you want to restore the beautiful natural color of teak, sand lightly with sandpaper and oil again.

Oil darkens teak, use colorless wax if you want to maintain the light shade of teak.

Teak is also suitable for outdoor use.

All of our teak furniture is made of solid wood, including the back panels and interior parts of the cabinets.

Teak wood is also resistant to outdoor use and you can also tint it in any direction you want.

It is also covered by the Flegt environmental agreement, meaning that this environmental permit is applied for separately for each of our containers. Classic plank table for indoor and outdoor use.

Enjoy your beautiful and ecological recycled teak furniture.
